What it is now
When we first wrote about Uvita 360 in 2014, it was a surf camp. In 2026 it's a surf school and tour company, without rooms of its own, so book your stay elsewhere and use Uvita 360 for lessons and trips. It was running a full tour list when we checked in October 2026. Costa Rica Journeys still has its Uvita 360 Surf Camp profile from the camp years.
The business was founded by Álvaro "Tito" Azofeifa, and surfing is still at its heart. Lessons are run by local instructors, for all ages, with an emphasis on building confidence in the water.
What you can book
- Surf lessons and board rentals. Lessons last about 2 hours, and rentals run by the day.
- Whale watching in Marino Ballena National Park. Uvita is one of Costa Rica's main whale-watching spots, with humpbacks visiting in two seasons each year.
- Caño Island snorkeling, a full-day boat trip.
- Corcovado National Park at the San Pedrillo station, also a full day.
- Mangrove kayaking, rainforest zipline and beach horseback rides.
Where it fits in a trip
Uvita sits on the Costa Ballena between Dominical and Ojochal. It's a good base for 2 or 3 nights after Manuel Antonio, and a way to see Caño Island or Corcovado without staying on the Osa Peninsula itself. Our Osa Peninsula guide covers the area and our 10-day itinerary includes Uvita. For waves around the country, see our surfing guide.
Who it suits (and who it doesn't)
It suits first-time and improving surfers, families with kids who want to try surfing, and travelers who'd rather book all their tours with one local company. Experienced surfers who just want a board may only need the rentals.
Getting there
Uvita 360 is in Uvita, 100 m south of Dolphin Tour, on the south Pacific coast. Uvita is on the Costanera Sur highway, reachable by car or shuttle from San José or Manuel Antonio.
